Within the Forgiven Ministry family, you might have heard of the “Uncles Club”—a term we use to describe dads who attend camp even when their children cannot join them. It’s heartbreaking that at some of our One Day With God camps, a father comes with the hope of seeing his child on Saturday, only to learn that, for whatever reason, his child or children are unable to attend. It’s heartbreaking—but good can come from it.

In one of our Michigan camps, we had one of those- situations, just minutes before the camp was to begin wherein the children run out to meet their dads, it was revealed that his child would not be there. Devastated, he was determined to go back to his bunk. Thankfully, however, he allowed us to speak freely with him and he was persuaded to stay. And I must say, the picture of him hamming it up during music time is one of my favorites. After having a wonderful, edifying, and spiritual day—even though his family didn’t make it. His word capture the power of what we do each and every camp.

Dear…

First and foremost, I’d like to thank the founder who even made this possible for fathers who are incarcerated & also for the children who have incarcerated fathers. This was a brilliant idea and to make it possible for so many fathers and children across the nation and also to gather the volunteers to back the plan is truly God at work. I’m so blessed to be able to be a part of this amazing event.

Although my child did not show, I still had an amazing time. I was able to spend time with fathers and their children so I didn’t for one second feel like I was unwelcomed. The volunteers were all so sweet and made you feel at home and at peace with my current situation. I have never been around so many great people. I can’t be happier and thank everyone enough who was involved. I have a different relationship with God and with my child.

So again, thank you for making something so great for children of incarcerated fathers possible.

Thank you and God Bless.

What a testimony to the fact that we’re in the right space with the right message. With God’s favor we’ve been able to make a difference, camp after camp after camp. If the Son sets us free, we are free indeed! To Him be all the glory.

You are loved!
