This past weekend, we had our first decent snowfall in the last couple of years, so it served as a great opportunity to make the most of it. Lauren’s son Beau enjoyed a fun snow day on Saturday, full of sledding, making snow angels, riding the four-wheeler through the snow, and building a snowman. It was one of those days that illustrates how a meaningful moment can turn into a lasting memory.

Life is a story, and memories are the threads that weave it all together. In the busyness of life, as parents, we are often given the chance to make meaningful memories that stay with us—and with our children. How often do we pause to reflect on the moments that shape our story?

Our One Day With God camps provide such moments, offering a time for reflection and connection that parents and children carry with them long after the day ends. Concerning this, one of the dads who attended an ODWG camp in Michigan with his daughter shared his thoughts in a letter:

I would like to first give thanks and honor to God for being our Lord and Savior. I want to thank everyone that helped and participated in this whole thing. It was so awesome, and I had so much fun. I’ll never forget it! I thank you all for providing a chance at another lifetime memory with my kid. I was so close to giving up, but I know it was the devil trying to stop God’s plan. But God! I wish you guys the best.
Thanks for everything!
Love,
J

Just as building a snowman creates cherished memories, so do the moments of connection shared at our One Day With God camps. Whether it’s the initial greeting in the middle of the gym floor, a birthday celebration, enjoying lunch together, the entertainment, the father-daughter dance, the father-son walk, or those final goodbyes, each moment demonstrates how God’s love and presence can break through even the hardest circumstances. Whether in a snowy yard or within the confines of a prison yard, moments like these remind us that there is always hope, and joy can be found even in the most unlikely places.
