At One Day With God, we have the privilege of hearing countless stories of how our program impacts families and individuals. These stories remind us why we do what we do and highlight the power of connection and encouragement. Remember, as Scottie always says, “If we can reach a person as a child, we may not have to repair them as an adult.”

Concerning such here’s a message from a lady in Abilene, Texas, whose grand daughter experienced the transformative effects of our recent event at the Robertson Unit.

Hi, first I wanted to thank you for being a part of the One Day With God event last Saturday at the Robertson Unit in Abilene, TX. My son is at the unit and this was the second year his 12-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son got to participate. I don’t know how to express how grateful we are for everyone involved. This year was especially meaningful for my granddaughter. I guess you asked her to be a part of one of your demonstrations. According to my son, several people commented on her potential.

Emma started the school year very excited because this was the first year she was old enough to participate in Athletics and she couldn’t wait to play basketball. Sadly, her excitement didn’t last long due to some issues with her coach. She was very upset but it was decided she would switch sports. I think Emma took the whole situation very personally and decided she wasn’t good enough. The encouragement she received at Saturday’s event brought her spark back. Thank you! I don’t know that she’ll be playing basketball for her school anytime soon, but I think she finally had some of her confidence back.

Thank you for your time and I pray that you will be blessed.

This message is a beautiful reminder of how our efforts can restore hope and confidence in others. Self-confidence is huge. It’s not the answer to everything, but it’s critical. Zig Ziglar used to say, “If you think you can or think you can’t, you’re most likely right.” One of my professors said in chapel, “God doesn’t need our trashed self-esteem!” That’s strong, but is so spot on. It’s good to see that, besides providing an environment for reconciliation, our influence is also helping other things that are so fundamental and important.

This story is a testament to the power of encouragement and the lasting impact we can have on each other’s lives. We are thankful for Dribble For Destiny’s support and to Lisa Cobb for sharing this story with us. She and Sherri are two, among so many, who tirelessly labor to help make events like this possible. May their number increase!

You are loved!
