Every time we step into a One Day With God Camp, we pray that hearts will be touched and families restored. Every time when we kick off a camp, as we watch the Dads and children unite, I know that I’m at the right place and doing the right thing that God has intended for me. It’s powerful! While every camp is different, God always shows up.
Recently, we received a heartfelt message from Rita Williams, an incarceration-impacted wife and mother who attended our One Day With God Camp at Nash Correctional. Her words were powerful, her story moving—and her gratitude, humbling. One part especially stood out to me:
“Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Caretaker side of the One Day with God event; I am SO proud that I could participate, and am so thankful for what everyone did for my children… it was emotional, but my heart needed it.”
Rita is a fierce advocate for criminal justice reform in Michigan, and her family’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience, faith, and the healing love of Christ. I invite you to read more of her story and her reflections on the event in her recent blog post:
